Here’s how the Dead Wedge works:

Throw your Dead Wedge onto the floor, and kick it around into place right behind the inner plate.

Don’t worry it’s not exactly fragile.

Now roll the plate(s) with your hand, up the ramp until it rests in place inside the loading groove.

Check it out – now your plates are hovering slightly off the ground!

Simply load/unload the plates as if the bar was in a rack.

Do your business, and repeat on the other side.

Some people buy two if they have a gym partner to do the other side simultaneously.

(maybe they’re really in a hurry?)

What kind of plates will this work with?

The Dead Wedge is universal and works with all type of plates. Yes this includes those funny shaped hexagon or polygonal plates.

And it even works with standard sized bumper plates.

Do I need two?

Nope! You only need one!

Dead Wedge is designed and works best to load/unload one side of the barbell at a time.

Sometimes it’s difficult to use two Dead Wedges if you’re training on your own because it’s not easy to roll a barbell atop two Dead Wedges in one push.

For this reason we don’t recommend people to use two at once. Some disagree, but in the end most lifters end up agreeing that using one is easier and faster!

…that is, unless you have a partner to helping you load/unload the bar. Perhaps then two would be effective.

Could a plate or other object accomplish a similar goal?

Yes! You could hypothetically roll plates atop any object, but it can’t compare to the Dead Wedge’s ease of use and safety.

The difference is Dead Wedge is a purpose built tool with a ramp, loading cradle, and the proper width. Our design takes several considerations into account to create the best barbell loading experience one could hope for.

It’s smooth and easy to roll up the ramp, it locks into place, the plates don’t easily roll off, and it doesn’t interfere with and hit the neighboring plates.

It’s a simple tool, but well designed and hard to replicate.

How do I use it?!

The Dead Wedge is very simple to use.

STEP #1: Roll inner plate up the ramp until it locks into the loading groove.

Pro-tip: Place your Dead Wedge in front of the inner plate a slight inward angle for perfect alignment.

STEP #2: Load or unload plates as effortlessly as in the rack due to the added elevation.

STEP #3: Roll the plates back out of the loading groove down the ramp and onto the floor. Done. Continue on other side and prepare to life!

*To unload perform the steps in exact opposite order.
