2014 Arnold Strongman Classic Results
With the heaviest dumbbell ever used in competition, and a possible deadlift over 1300 Lb, this years Arnold Strongman Classic is possibly one of the best.
This years Arnold Strongman Classic is dedicated to strongman Mike Jenkins, the 2010 Arnold Amateur Strongman Champion, and the 2012 Arnold Strongman Champion.
Below you will find the final results of The Arnold Strongman Classic, along with the individual events, and several videos of the event.
Final Arnold Strongman Classic Results
Event 1 – Austrian Oak
6 athletes completed repetitions with the 440lb Australian Oak, while the remaining 4 athletes opted for the smaller 380lb log. Krzysztof Radzikowski was injured while attempting the 440lb log. He ruptured his right tricep in the overhead portion of the lift.
Zydrunas wins the 400 Lb Austri Oak
Oberst and Burke tie for 3rd
Event 2 – Bail Tote (Yoke)
Zydrunas wins the yoke at 1400 Lb and walked the 10′ course in 3.7 seconds
Brian Shaw with 5.5 seconds
Event 3 – Timber Carry
Event 4 – Tire Deadlift
Zydrunas sets a new world record with 1155 Lb
Zydrunas’ world record deadlift of 1155 Lb
Event 5 – Cyr Dumbbell 274 Lb
Zydrunas, Burke, Shaw and Thor all got 4 reps.
Brian Shaw was given accidentally… a fifth rep, but was ruled that he only completed 4. Had he been given that rep, he would have made up the 2 point deficit going into the final event and won the overall. The other 3 would have had to split the points thus giving Zydrunas too few points to hold his lead.
Brian Shaw Wins America’s Strongest Man
Just 5 weeks after winning the World’s Strongest Man, Brian Shaw competes at the Olympia and wins America’s Strongest Man. Below you will find videos for the keg clean and press medley, last man standing log clean and press, and the giant wheel barrow load and carry.
The first keg was 220 Lb, and the last was 330 Lb. Best time was 43 seconds.
The log press was 400 + Lb, last man standing. The winners hit 430 Lb, missing the Robert Obert’s record by 15 Lb.
Brian Shaw was defeated by Nick Best during this event.

Misha unfortunately had to retire after the first event in the final due to injury.
“It would be desirable to act in all exercises of the final, but apparently God knows best, that it was necessary for me today. Tore muscle on the first exercise. Thank God for all everything! This is competition and on them are sometimes personal injury. I thank my parents for the force and the nature of the faith that they have awarded. Thank you wife ,which as it could supported me at a distance. Thanks friends which trusted and trust in me as in the sportsman and the person.
PS we do conclusions, we analyze and we work further. Have to go home, the threshold of the car and put the thirtieth fly to Volgograd.”
Poundstone withdrew prior to WSM to allow his body to rest.
“I withdrew from worlds to allow my body to rest. After tearing my biceps in March and subsequently competing in Australia, I made the injury worse. My goal isn’t to just compete in WSM, I want to win and in order to win I need to be prepared. I wouldn’t be prepared next week. Next year I will be rested and prepared.”
Laurence Shahlaei had to retire prior to the finals due to a torn quad.
Mike Jenkins got sick and lost 20-lbs in 3 days just before competing in the Worlds Strongest Man. He was taking i.v drips to stay hydrated and won the last 2 events in preliminaries winning his group making it to finals, and taking home 4th.

World Record Bench Press (Raw) 722 Lbs by Eric Spoto
Here’s Eric Spoto smashing the world record raw bench press with 722 Lbs! After many unsuccessful attempts, the original record of 715 held by Scot Mendelson has finally fallen. Congratulations to Eric!
Video of Eric’s 722 Lb attempt produced by Jim McDonald:
Laurence Shahlaei takes a tumble off the platform while doing some rack pulls with chains. Sounds like hes okay. He shows that in order to succeed, sometimes you must fail. As long as you get it on video.
I have strained my hammy but it could have been much worse. Should be ok in a few weeks.
To end with Laurence on a more positive note, check out his last video:
